The Reilly Report
Attention Woodworkers
Is there anyone out there with the time, talent, and inclination
to do a project or two? We need some (two now and 5-8 more for next year)
podiums (lecterns) and two wagon-type carts for recess equipment. I just can’t
get myself to spend money on podiums which are over priced and of poor quality.
We tried a few different carts for recess equipment, and they do not work well
enough. Please contact me if you are
interested. If you donate your time and talent, I’ll find $ for the materials.
Mid-trimester reports were sent home on Monday. We tried
several different formats, but all have the same goal. We want you to know what
we are seeing while you have some time to make any necessary improvements. FYI,
the first trimester is over at Thanksgiving.
Parent Conferences are scheduled for four evenings
between Nov. 12 and Thanksgiving. We do not have teacher conference days
scheduled for the spring, though as always, parents and teachers may schedule
conferences as needed. Please complete and return the attached form to schedule
a conference. We would like one form
returned for each family.
Mass and Parade
Reminders Our annual
Halloween Parade will be on October 31st at 2:00 P.M. either in the parking lot
or through the halls of school, depending on weather and construction. Mass
times for the Holy Day are 4:30 P.M. on the 31st, and on November 1st at 6:30
A.M., 9:15 A.M. (K-4 will attend), 2 P.M. (grades 5-8), and at 7:30 P.M. For
the parade many grades are wearing specific types of costumes, such as patron
saint or hats only. In general, we encourage creative costumes that promote
healthy imagination and fun. Since we will be walking around, students will not
be permitted to wear masks. Of course, I also ask that no weapons of any sort,
including plastic look-a-likes, be brought to school. Costumes should be
carried to school in a bag or backpack. Homeroom parents will be here to help
with the celebration, but it is still best if students are able to put on their
costumes without assistance.
Watch for changes in the
traffic patterns. As opening day for phase A approaches, you
will need to be alert for changes in the traffic paths. The area between the church parking lot and
the lot by the concession stand seems the most dangerous. Please take your
time!
Picture Retake will be on Wednesday, October 30th.

SHOW YOUR RESPECT!
By Miss McLaughlin, Mrs. Crowley, and Mrs. McNeil
The entire
student body will be studying the character trait of RESPECT for the month of
October. Some ways in which we can show respect at home, school, and in the
community are by using manners, courteous language, showing people that they
are important by the way you treat them, listening carefully, thinking about
the feelings of others before you do or say anything, being able to disagree
with someone without anger or violence, returning what you borrowed in good
condition, behaving appropriately in class, respecting the earth/environment.
Check out the hall display on “RESPECT” in the school building during the month
of October. Thank you in advance for your help and support on this project.
The money
collected from Spirit Day today will be going to C.U.P. (Catholic United for
the Poor). Our Daily Bread is a beneficiary of this organization. We will also
be collecting items for the Mary Magdalene House on a voluntary basis
throughout the month of October. Items needed are tooth brushes, small tubes of
tooth paste, Vaseline, baby powder, deodorant, bar soap (hotel soap is fine).
Please send them to school with your child.

8TH GRADE NEWS
Submitted by Mrs. Grote
Congratulations to 8th grade students Alex B. and Jason R. for creating the winning design for the front and
back of the Class of 2003 t-shirt! The designs were voted on by the members of
the 8th grade class. Thanks to all the 8th graders for showing their
creativity and school spirit with their awesome designs! Thanks also to
the PTO for helping to coordinate this activity. The t-shirts are a gift to the
students from the school and St. Ignatius PTO.
5TH GRADE NEWS
The 5th grade will be taking some of their tests and quizzes
on-line through a new program called “Quia”. We are no longer using “Funbrain”,
as was previously mentioned in September at “Meet the Teacher Night”. We are
pleased with this program and excited about
the possibilities of integrating technology into academics. Just another
way we here at St. Ignatius are putting the “Gee!” into technology.

TENNIS BALLS NEEDED!

We are still in need of tennis balls for the classroom’s chair

room much quieter and help keep the wax on the floor. If you have any to
donate, please send them to the school office.

My Field Trip by Jenna T., grade 3
My field trip to
the zoo was great! We got to see a
cheetah out of it’s cage. We also saw a
snake eating a rat and I could not eat lunch after seeing that! Our group got to see other stuff too, like
the bears, lions, manatees, tigers, birds, monkeys, insects, and reptiles. I enjoyed our trip to the zoo!
