THE WILDCAT WIRE
Volume 7 Issue 6 St. Ignatius School October

IMPORTANT MESSAGE
It has come to my attention that
some children are not getting to Mass on the weekend. It is essential that
families prioritize getting to church. Parents have a vowed responsibility, by
their commitment at Baptism, to bring up children in faith. Children (including
teenagers) must attend Mass each week. To miss Mass, except due to illness, is
a serious sin that needs to be brought to the Sacrament of Confession. In order
that everyone has an opportunity to attend Mass on the weekend, we have 6
Masses. The schedule is as follows:
Saturday: 4:30 P.M.
Sunday: 6:30 A.M., 9:00 A.M., 10:30 A.M., 12:00 noon, 7:30 P.M.
Fr. Bolte
*The Reilly Report
I think most
people know our "Chain of Command" policy. I'm not so sure people know why we try to stick to it. By
"chain of command" we mean that all concerns should be addressed to
the person most immediate to the situation. In most cases around here, that
means talking to the homeroom teacher before talking to the office or other
personnel. One of the strategies we use
to keep such a big school personal is by keeping the child connection at the
grade level with the homeroom teacher. We do the same thing from our side by
keeping the homeroom teacher the source for all matters concerning each child.
(Attendance, punctuality, academic progress, discipline, transportation,
permission forms…) That way we have one adult coordinating the efforts for an
average of 30 students. This seems to be much more effective than trying to do
it one to 824. That being said, it
doesn't mean you shouldn't ever call the office for help. It is important to me
that you know why Mrs. Mitchell will ask you if you have talked to the teacher before
she gives me a message to get involved.
The Terra Nova testing and In View testing began this week for the even grades
and will continue throughout October. This test is different from the Iowa
Test. In addition to the typical multiple choice questions, the students will
be asked short response and extended response questions. The tests also
question the students on a full range of thinking skills including basic recall
questions, comparisons, explanations, evaluations, and synthesis. We believe the results will give
us a clearer picture of both individual
and group strengths and weaknesses.
No students
next Friday, October 11! Next Tuesday we will celebrate the Blessing of Animals
during the 9:15 Mass.

and neighbors to donate money. This money helps to pay doctors and scientists
to continue their search for a cure. Thanks to everyone at St. Ignatius for
contributing 25 cents on Spiritday, Friday. We donated that money towards the

As you know,
the members of the Monfort Heights Mighty Stampede Soccer Team - Kelli D., Jordan D., Elizabeth E., Anna F.,
Madaline J., Julie S., Brittany T., and Ria V. - are doing great so far. In
the upcoming weekend of October 18th through October 19th, the team will have
their 2nd tournament in Indianapolis, Indiana. They’re going to compete in the
Nightmare On The Rock Tournament. They will play against some teams that have
been together longer than they have, but they’re going to fight through and
win! What they are asking YOU to do is cheer them on and hope for the best.
Whether it’s by prayer, getting them a card, or just by wishing them good luck
before they leave school, they will “receive your luck” and it will stay with
them the whole way through!
