The Reilly Report

So why don’t we close school for a few days due to illness? I am happy to tell you that our percentage of ill students is lower than the schools you hear closing. (We are closer to 10% now and St. Catharine for example was at 25%) Our staff is also more resilient and few teachers have taken sick days.  More good news: our numbers have been improving everyday. In spite of mounting makeup work and missed lessons, we need students to continue to stay home until they are symptom free for 24 hours. If makeup work is becoming a nightmare, please talk to the teachers.

Mid-trimester reports will be sent home Monday.

Thanks to all the volunteers who helped with our celebration of Catholic Schools Week.   Open House, our Mass, the Cathedral Mass, and the appreciation days all went well.

Parish School Council approved the Finance Commission’s recommended tuition rates for next year. Our base 03-04 tuition of $1600 for one child remains one of the lowest around. What a deal! As soon as other schools set their rates, I will let you know where we stand.  While $1600 is a significant increase, it is my hope that no one is surprised. The increase will help pay for some, not all, of the added cost to lower class sizes. As you know class size has been a top concern for eight straight years. Enrollment papers were sent home with current  students.  Current   students   have   priority   until Feb. 7th.

            *YEARBOOK, YEARBOOK, YEARBOOK!

            Submitted by Donna White

WE NEED PICTURES!!!! The Yearbook Committee is hard at work compiling  next year’s yearbook. We still need pictures of the following events: girls’ volleyball, boys’ basketball, Bible Bowl, 1st Reconciliation, Spelling Bee, Scouts, and any choir group. The yearbook relies completely on the submission of pictures from parents. Your child’s chances of being in the yearbook are GREATLY enhanced if you send us multiple pictures. We do not pay photographers to take pictures throughout the year at various events. This would make the cost of our yearbook very expensive.  You should have also received your order for ordering the yearbook. Please pay only by check or money order!!! Make checks payable to “St. Ignatius PTO”. Questions? Please call Donna White or Beth Deyhle .
