Education
& Spiritual Growth Commission ALPHA Program: A program for Catholics and non-Catholics to grow in their knowledge of God, Jesus, and the Church. Therre is a meal, video and small group discussions for questions and faith sharing. Contact Tony Gagliarducci (853-0653). Baptismal Preparation Team: Couples are needed to present Baptismal Preparation Sessions to those seeking the Sacrament of Baptism for a child. This is a great way to become involved in the parish. Bereavement Support Groups: The bereaved in the parish are encouraged to join a group who can listen, support and pray with parishioners grieving the loss of a dear one. Contact Sr. Bertha (661-6565). BROTHERS Ministry: A group of men who have lost a spouse through death, divorce or separation. Weekly meetings are on Wednesdays at 7:30pm. Christ Renews His Parish: Our parish renewal program consists of groups of parishioners who commit themselves to come together on a regular basis to pray, share faith, study and eventually become more involved in our parish or lay ministry. (Fathers Accountable to Healthy Enduring Relationships): This is a ministry and fellowship for fathers and husbands in the parish. It provides support and education for dads to grow in their relationships with God, wife and children through mutual encouragement and holding one another accountable for weekly goals. Contact Tony Redden (574-2961). Home Schooling: Kris Schoettmer, (Coordinator of Religious Education), meets with families home schooling their children. Contact Steve & Paula Trimble (662-7700). Holy Spirit Prayer Group: This group meets on Tuesday evenings at 7:30pm for prayer, Scripture sharing, and openness to the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Contact Lyn Teepe (245-9267). Lighthouse Community Prayer Group: Weekly meetings are held on Wednesdays at 7:30pm and are open to all. The meetings include prayer, song, Scripture and meditation followed by Christian fellowship. A Healing Mass or Service is held in Church on the first Wednesday of each month. Contact Sr. Christine (471-5483). Marriage Preparation Team: Married couples and parish clergy work together to assist engaged couples in preparing for married life and help them in their decision to marry. Married couples are needed to assist as sponsors to Engaged Couples. Contact Pat & Cris Findley (741-1706). Ministry of Mothers (M.O.M.'s): A support and social group for mothers of children ages 0-5. Provides pre & post-natal Christian Mothers assistance, community volunteer outreach, prayer group support and social activities. Contact Angie Frigge (481-6851). Natural Family Planning: This group provides information for achieving or avoiding pregnancies according to an informed awareness of a woman's fertility. N.EP is in harmony with the moral teachings of the Church, is safe and is effective. Contact Bernie and Coleen Karwisch (574-8354). Parish School of Religion (PSR): Responding to Jesus' invitation, "Let the children come to me," the St. Ignatius Parish School of Religion insures the formal religious education of all the children of the parish. This is accomplished by providing religion classes, conducted by trained volunteer catechists, for public elementary school children (including those with special needs) and pre-school children. Sacraments for Children: Any child who needs the Sacrament of Baptism, Reconciliation, 11, Eucharist, and Confirmation (having missed the normal preparation) can attend a special preparation program. St. Ignatius School: The philosophy of St. Ignatius School (Kindergarten through grade 8) is based on the threefold purpose of "To Teach as Jesus Did" - teaching the message, building community and providing opportunity for active Christian service to God. The curriculum provides not only for academic excellence, but also for its correlation with a commitment for Christ by the total person enriched by human culture. The specific objectives of the school follow the curriculum recommended by the State of Ohio and the Archdiocesan Office for Parochial Schools. RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults): A team of over 20 adults is needed each year to assist those in the RCIA program. To help as an RCIA sponsor, contact Len Johansing (923-3433) or Greg Niehaus (598-8880). Ultreya & Cursillo: The Cursillo is a three day renewal and evangelization of living in a Christian community The Ultreya, which meets the first Thursday of each month at 7:30pm in Room 80, is a means of continuing this renewal and evangelizing. Vacation Bible School is a four-day summer program in June, 2000 for children, pre-school through fifth grade, to grow in their knowledge of God and the Bible. VBS has a morning session and an evening session. Contact Kris Schoettmer (661-6565). Vocation Committee is a group dedicated to help foster vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life.
