Proclaim with me the Lord's greatness; let us praise his name together!" Questions? Call Craig Haberthy.

Please help us feed the needy by bringing non-perishable food items to the truck. Thank You.

What happened to the Alpha Course? Nothing…it just took the summer off to rest the team and start planning for it re-presentation the first Tuesday after New Years. Mark your 2007 calendars now so you'll note it on the 2008 calendar you put into use later this year. It's a great program for renewal and for you to bring along those who have been away from the faith or even those who don't know much about Christianity. Look for more details soon. Any questions or need information or want to be on our team? Call Deacon Tony.

"Bridges to Contemplative Living" is a spiritual development program for adults who desire to live everyday life in a more contemplative way. Bridges was designed by the Merton Institute as a resource for individuals as well as members of small faith sharing groups looking for new ways to grow in their relationship with God and each other. This fall, four sessions will be offered at St. Ignatius centering on the program's first theme, "Entering the School of Your Experience." Come to one or all of these sessions and discover for yourself what Bridges is all about. Bring the Bridges experience back to your own small faith-sharing group or continue with the next part of this program in the spring. The first session meets Monday, October 8th from 7-8:30pm in the Parish Office. Questions? Call Sr. Lucy (661-6565).

From the Associate Pastor's Desk

During the week when the students have their class masses, there is always a theme. This past week at the All School Mass, the theme was "TO SHARE". It was their mission mass and a reminder to pray for those "Homebound". They were also told to pray for a particular country, for the Church in that country and for the well-being of the citizens who live there.
The readings today are a good reminder for us to share also. Lazarus is a poor beggar and has nothing to eat. We all have seen the "Lazarus'" of this life. Sometimes you see them on the street corner with a sign, "Will Work for Food."
These are very uncomfortable moments. We want to help, but sometimes we are afraid to approach the person. But there are other Lazarus' who are "Poor of Spirit" or "Morn" as Jesus said in His Lists of 'Blesseds'. So there is always the question in front of us. How do we share?
We do have special collections during the year for missions, education, the Popes concern, and for the Church in need throughout the world. All of these say we can help even though we do not have "hands on".
But the creator has shared with us so much, especially in the Beauty of His creation. I went on the trip with the Seniors from the parish and we saw The Great Plains from Indiana to South Dakota; The Bad Lands; The Dark Forest, Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse. One cannot view all of these wonders and not see the hand of the Divine Artist in it all. God has shared His glory in nature, in those around us, in man made carvings and beauty. So it comes down to what can we share: What don't we need; What can we do without: How can we be generous to others with our wealth: Our time to listen: Our talent to help a child in their need. Lazarus was rewarded by God for his simple life and his suffering. The Lord can reward us also for our sharing of the good things of this life and the wonderful abundance He has given us.
Because of Moses and the Prophets, because of the example and life of Jesus Himself, we as church give ourselves away in mission and service to others. God's word calls us to a giving life, calls us to rich in good works, generous in mercy, and ready to share.
Fr. Wall
