From The Family

November 1st is All Saints Day, a Holyday of Obligation for all Catholics. We will have Masses on Wednesday, October 31 at 4:30pm, and Wednesday, November 1, at 6:30am, 9:15am, 2:00pm and 7:30pm.

Parish Memorial Mass: The people of St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish wish to invite the family and friends of all parishioners who have lost a loved one during the past year to attend a Memorial Mass on Friday, November 2 at 7:30pm. We wish to remember in a special way those who have joined the Communion of Saints since All Souls Day in 2006.

RCIA: Last week, Len Johansing was the Catechist for Questions & Answers. RCIA will not be meeting this week, because of the Eve of the Holy day. Classes will resume on Nov. 7. Please keep the Inquirers, Personal Sponsors, Parish Sponsors, and Team Members in your prayers.

Eucharistic Adoration will be available on First Friday, November 2nd from 9:00pm – 6:30am. Here is a wonderful prayer: Look upon the hour of adoration assigned to you as an hour in Paradise. Go to your adoration as one would go to Heaven, to the divine banquet. You will then long for that hour and hail it with joy. Take delight in fostering a longing for it in your heart. Tell yourself, “In four hours, in two hours, in one hour, our Lord will give me an audience of grace and love. He has invited me: He is waiting for me: He is longing for me.” Fr. Vincent Martin Lucia.

St. Leo’s Food Pantry is a busy place. The food goes out as fast as it comes in. Currently, the pantry needs the following items: peanut butter, tuna, shampoo, toilet tissue, and toothpaste. If you can help, please put the items in the metal cabinet in the Parish Office. Thank you.

From the Associate Pastor's Desk

We have a Church very rich, not only in tradition, but one that speaks to us today. In the early Church, when they had Liturgy, they did not read from any books. They would simply try to remember any of the stories or events that Jesus performed. They did have knowledge of the Hebrew Scriptures, since most of the new Church had Jewish background. We continue that same idea today. We read from the Hebrew Scriptures, which tell us about God’s love and forgiveness. All of the Old Testament is a preparation for the coming of Jesus. It leads up to the Christmas Story. From there the scriptures tell us about the works of Jesus, His giving us the Eucharist, His establishing a Church, His giving us leaders in that Church. Then He commissions us all to be the Disciples just like the ones He called by name. He calls us by name also in Baptism.

After we have read about Jesus, we profess our faith in our very old creed, and then we petition the Lord for many things and finally come to the meal. He told us to do this to remember Him. We pray the prayer He taught us, and come to the table just like the twelve Apostles did.

Who says we don’t have tradition. The language has changed to reach all of God’s peoples but the menu of the meal is the same: Bread and Wine; Jesus Himself is the Lamb, like the Passover Meal.

We pray in silence and come to the blessing and are sent forth, like the early Christians to work for the good of all we meet. To spread the faith by our own lives. And to be an example to our children and family. We want to thank the Lord for this great gift of Faith and we want to spread that Faith as best we can. Today’s readings tell us of the Saint and the Sinner. Yet Jesus loves them both as He loves us and we should love one another. Thank you Lord for Faith, Family and Friends.
Fr. Wall

Our sincerest sympathy is extended to the family of Joan Sena, sister of D.J. Jennings. May her family find comfort in knowing she is with God.

Quote of the Week: "It constantly happens that the Lord permits a soul to fall so that it may grow humbler. When it is honest, and realizes what it has done, and returns, it makes everincreasing progress in our Lord's service." St. Teresa of Avila
To the Parents: A big Thank You to all the parents who made it to our "State of the Youth Ministry" meeting on the 18th. For those who couldn't make it, please remember, you are the most influential element in the faith formation of your teen! As parents, God has given us no greater resource over which we must practice faithful stewardship than the care and upbringing of His children, especially those He has placed under our personal care. Are you living your life in such a way that if your children follow your example, you will one day see each other in heaven? Have you made this your life's purpose? If not ... what could be more important?
