A Few Words From Fr. Pete
In the near future (November), we at St. Is, are going
to be offering a new program geared at assisting all people of the parish
and our Sisters and Brothers at St. Leos. The Angel Food Program
is a food program aimed at providing food at affordable prices for those
that have a tight budget. Now while this program is geared at those who
may need a tighter budget than most it is still open for all people to
take part.
Now I do not intend for this program to usurp Market Day or replace it.
Market Day items are vastly different than those offered by the Angel
Food program. Angel Food is based upon a given set of menus and not individual
items for sale. All extra funds raised by Market Day go to youth and St.
Is activities and that will remain the same. Angel Food will raise
about one dollar for St. Leos with each meal sold.
The simple reason why we are starting this program is to take a more parish
wide active role in our relationship with St. Leo. If you know of anyone
who may live on a budget that will benefit from this program, please stop
by the office or the back of church and ask for the current months
menu. The office will be ready to accept orders by the Beginning of November.
By that time our friends at St. Leos will have had the opportunity
to train our staff to handle all incoming orders. So help us spread the
word and keep and eye out for those among us who might profit from this
new endeavor.
I would also like to ask each and everyone of you to please consider sponsoring
a family from Guatemala in the coming year. As you know it was our turn
to visit our friends last August and now we get the chance to open our
homes to them. The goal of this relationship is simply to share our parish
and our faith. While we get the chance to show our brothers and sisters
just a little taste of who and what we are, as a catholic people.
God Bless
Fr. Pete
A Humorous story from the Joyful Noiseletter: The
pastor of a church with a summer ministry at a campground was advised
by the ushers that they couldnt find offering plates anywhere. None
of the ushers wore hats, and the pastor thought it was undignified to
pass a shoe. When the time came for the offering, two ushers grinning
broadly walked down the aisle carrying two hubcaps they had borrowed
from a parishioners car.
We need your help. Many less fortunate souls need
items to keep them warm this winter. Your gently worn or new gloves, mittens,
hats, scarves, blankets, and yarn will keep many less fortunate souls
warm this winter. Please drop off all donations to the Parish Office.
Thank you.
