CCHD to Host Annual Collection is this weekend. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is the domestic anti-poverty program of the US Bishops. It was founded almost 40 years ago to address the root causes of poverty in America. Since it is supported almost entirely by parish collections, the Campaign is a wonderful opportunity for St. Ignatius parishioners to reach out to the 27 million Americans who live below the poverty line. Since the Archdiocese of Cincinnati is usually the 2nd highest donor to this Campaign, we usually are given a greater share of the total collection. Go to www.usccb.org/cchd/ or to find out what CCHD is doing here, go to www.catholiccincinnati.org/socialaction/cchd.html

St. Vincent DePaul Society - If you receive a turkey or ham that you don't know what to do with, please consider donating it to the SVDP conference here at St. I's so we can pass it along to one of the families that has requested our help for Christmas. If your family would like to sponsor one of those families for Christmas, please call the Parish Office to let them know. Someone from our conference will get back to you with information about your family. Thanks for all of the support that you give us throughout the year which enables us to assist individuals in our neighborhood.

RCIA: On Wednesday evening, Fr. Wall is the Catechist. The lesson is Mass Walk Through and a Church Tour. Please remember to keep Inquirers, Personal Sponsors, Parish Sponsors, and Team Members in your daily prayers.

The Young Christian Hearts, along with Father's and RCIA, will have their Lessons and Carols at West Park on Friday, December 14. Please meet in West Park's Lobby between 6:30PM - 6:45PM. For more information about the Young Christian Hearts, call Geri Tengler.

Advent Adoration for Peace: Please take time out from the hurried pace of the Christmas season and join us for the Advent First Friday All Night Adoration on December 7th. Adoration will follow the evening mass celebrating the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Enter into the true spirit of the season by spending some quiet time with Jesus, to pray for peace within our own heart, and also peace within our family, home, community, country and finally our world. Sign-up sheets for scheduled times will be in the back of Church.

PACE: It’s the most wonderful time of the year again! Make extra time for yourself to enjoy it by ordering your Christmas gifts through PACE. PACE offers gift cards to more than 300 popular restaurants and retailers, including Montgomery Inn, The Cheesecake Factory, Hofbrauhaus, Bonefish, Skyline, Gap, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Limited, Toys R Us, iTunes and Showcase Cinemas, to name just a few. There’s something for everyone on your list, so you can finish all your shopping without ever having to fight traffic, find a parking spot or stand in long lines. In addition, by ordering gift cards through PACE, you will be supporting St. Ignatius programs. Order forms will be available in the back of church throughout the Christmas season, beginning this weekend. If you have any questions, contact Julianne Smith, Leslie Odioso, Sue Newland or Heidi Kemper.

The Alpha Program

On January 7, 2008 Alpha will begin it’s winter 10-week session and it very well may be what you’ve been looking for. The program provides RENEWAL for “cradle Catholics and, at the same time, it provides GREAT INFORMATION for anyone about just who our God, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit really is and how He is encountered in life so that we may have a great “journey”.

  • There is a free meal at the beginning of each session.
  • Then there is a very entertaining and informative DVD.
  • Then there is great table discussion with your peers.
  • AND there is adjournment on time at 8:45pm.

Registration closes when we reach 100 persons. We are “family friendly” in that we have Alpha for Kids in an adjoining room (ages 3 to pre-teen) so you don’t have to get a sitter. To register, you can get a flyer/registration at the Church doors on the weekend of December 1 & 2 or you can stop by the Parish Office and request one. For further info you can contact me or visit on line for general info at www.alphausa.org. Hope to see you there! Deacon Tony.

SCARF IT UP CLUB The Scarf It Up Club has changed the meeting dates and time. This group will now meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. The time is from 1-3:00pm. The place of the meeting will be in the BACK ROOM IN HILVERT CENTER. We feel this will better suit the needs of our members and we apologize for any inconvenience. All are welcome to join us. Thank you and God Bless.

Blood Pressures will be taken after Saturday 4:30pm Mass on November 24 and after all Sunday AM Masses on November 25 in the Bride’s Room by the Church entrance.

From the Pastor's Desk

Boy what a week to be thankful for!!! Thanksgiving on Thursday and my Mom and Dad celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. On top of all that the dirt was finally removed from the fields. To cap off a great week, today is Christ the King. A beautiful way for the Catholic faith to say goodbye to the past year and welcome in the New Liturgical Year, with next week being the 1st Sunday of Advent.

This past year was a year of great change for many of us. I am thankful for St. I’s because we were able to put a new roof on the Church, to seal the windows and outside façade of the church, and get water down to the playing field and a sewer. Thankful that our parish school for the twelfth year grew in population and reputation (about 960 students). None of this would be possible without each and everyone helping out. From the golf outing, cafeteria volunteers, BINGO volunteers, church cleaners, coaches, PSR teachers, you have blessed this parish with your time, talents and generous financial support.

I am thankful that you have taken three needy communities of Faith under your wing and support numerous programs that support their growth. I am thankful for all!!! I am thankful that our parish’s October count showed that St. I’s grew in the last year and why???? Well because of you and all that you do to make this parish an active and lively place to be. To put it simply our Masses are wide and varied, there is one for almost every type of person. The simplicity of the 6:30, the family atmosphere of the l0:15, to the ever lively 7:30. I would be remiss if I did not thank Fr. McCarthy and Fr. Wall, because they do add so much to our liturgical celebrations. Three priests at one parish is unheard of but not here. Here we have three priests with different styles and one goal……to bring about the kingdom of God for you. Our Music programs grown and continue to flourish and make our celebrations vibrant. Thank You.

As said earlier, next week we begin a New Year in the life of the Catholic Church with the 1st Sunday of Advent. I cannot say how excited I am to see how this year unfolds and how thankful I will be this time next year. With luck we’ll have an improved sound system and plans in place to replace our aging pews. With your continued efforts our debt will also be a thing of the past. God Bless each and every one of you. It is your service to God and neighbor that you give homage to Christ Your King.
Fr. Pete
