You need to know what “UCCF” is! It’s the program entitled “Understanding the Church Christ Founded”! It is a follow up to the Alpha Course BUT is open to ANYONE interested in getting answers to questions they may have about the Catholic Church. Starts on March 31st. Pick up a flyer at the exits of Church or at the Parish Office for more information. Questions? Call Deacon Tony.

Please pledge your support for six of our very important regional church ministries, through the Catholic Ministries Appeal. Our parish goal is $44,500.00. Total contributions collected so far are $21,618.00 which is 49% of our goal. Please do your part and be generous.

Spring “DISCOVERING JESUS SEMINAR” will be held on seven consecutive Wednesday evenings starting April 16 through May 28 from 7:30pm-9:00pm in Hilvert Center. St. Ignatius Respect Life Commission: Your generosity is appreciated!! Thank you for the tremendous supply of groceries! The truck was filled, and the pantry of St. John Social Services can now serve hungry families. Because of the kindness of St. Ignatius Parish, Project 5000 was again a success.

Thank you also to all parish members who attended the annual Way of Love Walk at Burnett Woods. Attendance on Palm Sunday included many families from our church, and the prayer is a powerful response to the tragic abortions performed just minutes from our own neighborhood every day.

Ready to offer up your baking talents for the Greater Glory of God, and to support families facing unplanned pregnancies? The annual Respect Life Cupcakes for a Cause is this April 12th & 13th after Masses. Bring by your best lemon cake, apple strudel or cinnamon rolls (that’s you, Robey!) to the Parish Office, then return after Mass has ended and reward yourself with a plate of scrumptious cookies, or surprise your family with a tray of freshly baked brownies. We’ll see you on April 12 & 13!

The 8th grade graduation DVD’s are ready and able to be picked up in the School Office between 9:00am-4:00pm.

Catholic Teaching on Rights and Responsibilities: Every person has a fundamental right to life – the right that makes all other rights possible. Each person also has a right to the conditions for living a decent life – faith and family life, food and shelter, education and employment, health care and housing. We also have a duty to secure and respect these rights not only for ourselves, but for others, and to fulfill our responsibilities to our families, to each other, and to the larger society. – USCCB Administrative Committee, Faithful Citizenship: A Catholic Call to Political Responsibility, p. 14

A FEW WORDS
FROM
FR. PETE

I truly hope everyone’s Easter was one of joy, hope and fun. I know mine was, along with all that took place during Holy Week. From the washing of the feet on Holy Thursday and the Passion on Good Friday, it was all wonderful. The Vigil on Saturday was outstanding. A special thanks to the complete RCIA team, to Len Johansing and Greg Niehaus our cocoordinators, to all the parish sponsors and all the catechists that did an outstanding job of preparing those to receive the Sacraments. I would like to thank Pat Zirkelbach, Pat Posinski and all the worship committee who did such a wonderful job with the church and getting the community center ready for Saturday and Sunday. Thanks to Sr. Lucy for getting the prayer books for both Lent and Easter and the fountain. Thanks to Fr. Don and Fr. John without whose help things would have been impossible to pull off. Thanks to Everyone who helped bring this Easter to a new height for all our parishioners.

Now for something completely different…….Today is Divine Mercy Sunday. Divine Mercy, the gift that God gave to the world and brought to life through His Son Jesus Christ, is best explained by St. Faustine herself. St. Faustine is the Saint who championed this popular devotion and thanks to Pope John Paul II came to realization for the Universal Church.

My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity. Everything that exists has come forth from the very depths of My most tender mercy. Every soul in its relation to Me will contemplate My love and mercy throughout eternity. The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness. It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy. (Diary of St. Faustina Kowalska, # 699)
God Bless,
Fr. Pete
