of St. Ignatius Parish Mission 2008 Gods Forgiveness: A RIVER OF GRACE. Set aside Monday through Thursday evenings, March 3rd through March 6th from 7:30-8:45pm to participate in this Lenten tradition. A different member of our Pastoral Team will offer their reflection on Scripture and a witness talk will be given by two parishioners each night. Tuesday evenings service includes the Via Dolorosa performed by our liturgical dancers. On Wednesday, the young people who are part of The Reenactment this year give us a glimpse into the story of Peters denial. For more details, please see the back of the Mission Prayer Cards in the pews of the Church. Please pray for the success of our Mission. Come, invite a friend! The Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence from meat for Catholics 14 years and older. The obligation to do penance is a serious one. People should seek to do more rather than less. Fast and abstinence on the days prescribed should be considered a minimum response to the Lords call to penance and conversion. Stations of the Cross: During Lent please come to walk with Jesus on His road to Calvary and Crucifixion on Gabbatha (the place of the skull). Stations are at 2:15pm on Mondays and 7:30pm on Fridays. Confessions: 7-7:30pm Monday, 10-10:30am Wednesday, 3-4:00pm Saturday. Tuesday Evening Novena: 6:30-7:15pm Lenten Penance Service at St. Ignatius is Wednesday, March 12
at 7:00pm. Operation Rice Bowl: Each year St. Ignatius Parish during Lent supports the work of the Holy Childhood Mission Office and San Jose Parish Medical Clinic through the Rice Bowls. Lenten Calendars and Rice Bowls were given to each child in our grade school. Additional ones are at the church doors. This program gives us the opportunity to share with our world family through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. The Tabernacle Candle this week is in Remembrance of Wedding Banns RCIA: On the Fourth Sunday of Lent, the "elect" will be attending the 10:15am Mass for the Second Scrutiny and Presentation of the Creed. On March 5, Len Johansing is the catechist for Review of Holy Week. In addition, there will be time for Q & A. Mystagogia members will be meeting at 7:30pm in Room C. Please pray for the "elect" during their faith journey. The Men of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary and The Legion of Mary will be at St. Is on March 8th & 9th to present the Enthronement Program to St. Is parish. There will be a 5 minute talk after each mass and literature available by Fr. Walls confessional. There will be a display of Images of the Sacred Hearts for those who need one to enthrone their home, apartment, etc. Questions? Healing includes the physical, emotional, spiritual, psychological and relational aspects of our lives; it is not limited to a physical cure. Therefore, each persons life and dignity must be respected, whether that person is an innocent unborn child in a mothers womb, whether that person worked in the World Trade Center or a market in Baghdad, or even whether that person is a convicted criminal on death row. We believe that every human life is sacred from conception to natural death, that people are more important than things, and that the measure of every institution is whether it protects and respects the life and dignity of the human person. A Few Important Lenten Events Lent is in full swing here at St. Is and this week we have a number of events for all of you to come and take part in. The 1st is Fr. Phillip Chavez, a priest of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity, the same congregation of Fr. John Corapi, and one of the main speakers at this years Catholic Mens Fellowship of Greater Cincinnati, is at St. Ignatius of Loyola Sunday, March 2nd. Fr. calls us to forgive others and ourselves. Last years Parish Mission was a great success and we only hope to build on this. St. Ignatius Babysitting Schedule for March 9 Kiwanis Fish Fry is at the Concession Building behind the Church every Friday during Lent. The hours are 4:30-7:00pm. The menu includes fish sandwiches, fish, shrimp, or chicken dinners. Use the convenient drive-up window for takeout orders or eat inside the building. Angel Food Orders: The next Distribution date is March 29 at St. Leo's. Orders are taken in St. I's Parish Office during the daytime hours or after the 4:30 Mass. The Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) is raffling a trip for two to Ireland, to be given away on St. Patricks Day, March 17. The dance will be March 14th at the Nathaniel Greene Lodge from 7:30-12:00. St. John Passion Play: Performance locations/dates/times Prayer Shawl Ministry has a prayer shawl for anyone experiencing medical or emotional difficulties. A prayer shawl is a knitted or crocheted garment that has been prayed over and is beautifully wrapped with a prayer card attached. The Greater Cincinnati Performing Arts Society: Fusing classical, rock, blues, jazz, world music, progressive, and quintessential California surf music, the California Guitar Trios stunning virtuosity and sly sense of humor have earned them a rabid following. They will be joined on stage with Jazz guitarist Fareed Haque and vocalist April Aliosio. The concert is at the Seton Performance Hall on Saturday, March 8 at 8:00pm. After Palm Sunday Masses shopping bags and grocery lists will be available at the doors of our church, and filled bags are returned to a truck to the church parking lot on Holy Thursday.
