Mass of Healing: come and experience Jesus’ healing power. Healing includes the physical, emotional, spiritual, psychological and relational aspects of our lives; it is not limited to a physical cure. Here in St. Ignatius church we will have a Mass of Healing on Wednesday, January 2 at 7:30pm. Personal prayer for healing will be available after the Mass. Questions? Call Sister Chris.

Alpha starts January 7…Less than 10 days! Bring your spouse or a friend or even come with the kids who are very welcome at our Alpha for Kids (ages 3 and up) in an adjoining room. Come for a great meal, make new friends, have some fun (I tell a joke at the beginning of every session) and especially for a new or renewed relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Call Deacon Tony. All questions welcomed. Registration on flyer in Church or at the Parish Office.

Legion of Mary: Are you interested in sharing your faith with others? Would you like to visit non-Catholic homes? Would you enjoy welcoming new parishioners in their homes? If yes, this will cost you 2-3 hours of your time each week – all under the auspices of the Legion of Mary. All age adults are invited to prayer meetings which are held on Tuesday nights at 7:00pm in the Fr. Seaman room beginning January 8.

Anne Southward, St. Ignatius and Luke Ogonek will marry January 5 at St. Ignatius.

Welcome all St. Ignatius women! The Annual Women’s Retreat is January 25th – 27th, 2008 at the Moye Spiritual Life Center. Retreat directors are Brother Allan Schmitz and Susan Schmitz. Retreat is open to non-parishioners after January 1st. Fee is $110.00. Financial assistance is available. Reservations: Angie Otis. For more information call Carol Pieper or Louise Redden . A short planning meeting will be held Thursday, January 3rd for those willing to help with the retreat.

Eucharistic Adoration will be available on First Friday,
January 4th at 9:00pm until 6:30am. Here is a wonderful reflection of adoration depicting the beauty of God’s extraordinary blessings for those that take a moment to adore him by the Archbishop of Cebu, Philippines. If we are willing only to do what is ordinary then we can only expect God’s ordinary blessings. Only when we are willing to do the extraordinary are we guaranteed of obtaining God’s extraordinary blessings. When we are willing to do on earth what is done in heaven, ie., adore God perpetually, then god will create a “new heaven” and a “new earth”. – Ricardo J. Cardinal Vidal. Questions? Cal Craig Haberthy.

RCIA: Kris Schoettmer is the catechist on January 2. The lesson is sacraments of initiation: Baptism and Confirmation. Mystagogia members will be meeting in Rm C. Please remember to keep RCIA members in your daily prayers.

Thank you to those taking the Vocation Chalice. To have a Vocation Chalice in your home, call the Parish Office or to help with our Vocation Committee call Dennis Halaby. We encourage all parishioners (young, old, single, married, etc.) to participate in this ministry.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
(OF THE SECULAR VARIETY)

Even though our liturgical New Year began on the 1st Sunday of Advent, there is something special about this Holiday. Maybe it is a curious mix of the past and the unknowable future, or if you are young, the chance to stay up late. I don’t know, but for 99.9% of all people the hope of a not just a better tomorrow looms but the chance of real change, growth and improvement. A New Year offers more time to cast aside habits that are unwanted, and a greater chance to model our lives after the one life that should be reflected in everyone. Maybe that is why I like January 1st, time and the two parish calendars, I have lugged around don’t seem as heavy. The year is full of possibilities and new chances. Nothing has been cast in stone and all our plans to improve ourselves and our parish have a new lease on time.

I also like the fact that we can reflect on what has taken place and give thanks. This New Year marks my 1st complete year and while I make no claims to know every little detail about our wonderful parish, I can see growth and a deepening of knowledge. And this improvement is thanks to all of you; To the many who have invited me into your homes and share in your family; To watching a wonderful 8th grade class graduate and be replaced by an equally energetic and caring one. There are countless examples of the way in which you have helped me grow and improve, so THANK YOU. THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME TIME TO GROW, IT TAKES MORE THAN A YEAR TO UNDERSTAND THE GIFT I HAVE BEEN GIVEN BY THE ARCHBISHOP AND EVEN LONGER TO COMFORTABLY FILL THAT ROLE AS SERVANT LEADER.

Thank you to our wonderful staff who give their all to making sure that we grow stronger with each passing day; Jeanne, Lisa and Marlene the heart of the Parish Office; To Barb, who provides the means for us to reduce our debt via her wonderful management of BINGO and the FESTIVAL (and does so throughout the whole year with little fanfare or public knowledge); Thanks Kris for all you do for our youth (and all your helpers too!). Thanks to Sister Lucy, who keeps getting stronger and more inventive with each passing day! Thanks to Frank for giving us the means to improve our facilities and thus our spiritual lives. Thanks to Tim Schweikert and his crew who go above and beyond the call of duty everyday and to Tim Reilly who is giving us the best school possible. Thanks to Fr. John and Fr. Don for putting up with the crazy youngster in the rectory and Liam!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
GOD BLESS
Fr. Pete

Bagel Strips: the 7th grade Girls Scouts are selling bagel strips from Panera Bread for $12.00 each. The strips are good for free bagels or breads, brownies or cookies, and the proceeds are used to fund activities for the girls pursuing their Marion Award next year. The strips make great Christmas gifts. If interested, contact Beth Kemble.

Parish Health Ministry: Holiday Stress?

  • Learn to say “no”. Don’t promise too much. Give yourself enough time to get things done.
  • Plan productive solutions to problems. For example, talk with your neighbor if the dog next door bothers you, and set clear limits on how much you’ll do for family members.
  • Seek out a mental-health professional or counselor if you can’t cope on your own. Helping people is their specialty. Ask your doctor, family or friends for recommendations. If they can’t help, ask your spiritual leader or a hospital social worker for some names.
  • Join a support group for people with heart disease, for women, for men, for retired persons, or some other group with which you identify.

PULL FOR THE RONALD McDONALD HOUSE: Ronald McDonald House provides a supportive "home away from home" for families and their children who are receiving treatment at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, regardless of their ability to pay. The little tab you pull to open your soda, soup or any other aluminum can make a significant impact on the Ronald McDonald House. They recycle the tabs to generate funds to offset House expenses. Families are asked to send in tabs to school or bring to the Parish Office, just like boxtops, Campbells UPC codes and Tyson labels. Thanks for your help.

YES - WE COLLECT THESE: The school participates in several programs such as: Box Tops for Education, Campbell Labels for Education and Tyson Project A+. Clip the UPC code from Campbell products and redemption labels from Tyson products. You may send these items to the school or Parish.
