tradition is to have children as greeters, lectors, ushers, servers,
singers and Offertory Gift bearers at 3:00pm Christmas Eve, 5:00pm Christmas
Eve, and 12 noon Christmas Day. Want to give Jesus a great Christmas present? Why not attend the Alpha starting January 7th. You can renew your relationship, and even bring a friend or family member who is searching for the perfect gift also. The greatest gift you can give our newborn king is the gift of self. Would you like to visit non-Catholic homes? Would you enjoy welcoming new parishioners in their homes? If yes, this will cost you 2-3 hours of your time each week all under the auspices of the Legion of Mary. All age adults are invited to prayer meetings which are held on Tuesday nights at 7:00pm in the Fr. Seaman room beginning January 8. The Tabernacle Candle this week is in Celebration of Banns of Marriage Welcome all St. Ignatius women! The Annual Womens Retreat is January 25th 27th, 2008 at the Moye Spiritual Life Center. Retreat directors are Brother Allan Schmitz and Susan Schmitz. Retreat is open to non-parishioners after January 1st. Fee is $110.00. Financial assistance is available. Reservations: Angie Otis. For more information call Carol Pieper or Louise Redden. A short planning meeting will be held Thursday, January 3rd for those willing to help with the retreat. Angel Food: Do you know someone on a fixed income? Maybe you could place an order for that individual and give them the food. Thanks to all the volunteers. RCIA: On the Fourth Sunday of Advent, the catechumens and candidates will be dismissed during the 10:00am Mass. Greg Niehaus is the catechist for "Break Open the Word." There is no class on December 26. RCIA will meet on January 2. Please remember to keep RCIA members in your daily prayers. St. Leos: On December 17, Geri Tengler presented Shirley Cade a check in the amount of $639.00 from the Nativity Raffle. Also, she presented $150.00 in cash donation. Two parishioners, Anne Donoghue and Joanne Luehrman were working in the pantry at the time of the presentation. Thanks to everyone. Thank you to those taking the Vocation Chalice. To have a Vocation Chalice in your home, call the Parish Office or to help with our Vocation Committee call Dennis Halaby. We encourage all parishioners (young, old, single, married, etc.) to participate in this ministry. Vocation Chalice for Week of December16 Baptism School Open House Registration School Open House: As mentioned above, all are welcome MAY YOU HAVE Bagel Strips: the 7th grade Girls Scouts are selling bagel strips from Panera Bread for $12.00 each. The strips are good for free bagels or breads, brownies or cookies, and the proceeds are used to fund activities for the girls pursuing their Marion Award next year. The strips make great Christmas gifts. If interested, contact Beth Kemble. You will be scheduled to work only once every nine weeks, at the most six times a year. Please call Barb Campbell (661-6565) Veterans History Project: The Library of Congress is sponsoring this project in order to preserve the oral histories of America's war veterans and those who served in support of them. The histories will be included in the permanent collections of the Library of Congress and/or the World War II Museum in New Orleans as appropriate. They will serve as a scholarly and educational resource documenting the American veterans wartime experiences. The histories will be preserved for the benefit of the present and all future generations. Fr. Pete has graciously consented to be interviewed concerning his Marine Corps service as a Chaplain in Iraq. Any other individual with wartime service in any branch of the military, or anyone with a wartime work record in a critical support position, who would be interested in being interviewed as a part of the project should please call Rudy Jansen. Retrouvaille is for marriages that have lost some of their spark, for marriages having difficulties in communication and even those marriages on the edge of separation or divorce. Celebrate the mystery of Christmas with the Comboni Nativity Experience: Leave Decembers hectic turmoil behind and immerse yourself in the sacred meaning of Christmas. Let the room-sized animated nativity display at the Comboni Missionaries provincial home take you back to Gospel times. Open 6-9pm, December 9-30 except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The Comboni Missionaries are located in Anderson Township. Admission is free but you may bring canned goods for the needy. Journeying with St. Paul: His Life and Theology (Part 2). To celebrate the 2000th Jubilee of the Apostle Paul, Pope Benedict XVI has declared a Year of St. Paul will begin this June. The study of Pauls life and theology we began last fall continues during the winter with four more sessions held on Monday evenings from 7-8:30pm, starting January 14th. Bridges to Contemplative Living. Do you wish you could live a more contemplative life? The Bridges process designed by the Merton Institute for Contemplative Living can help. We began our exploration of the first part of this process (Entering the School of Your Experience) last fall, and will continue during January and February. Mark your calendar for the first gathering of Bridges on Monday evening, January 7th. Topic: praying through your changing image of God. Parish Health Ministry: We invite you to a dynamic presentation by Rev. Percy McCray Jr. that will challenge you to deepen your knowledge on visiting someone with cancer. It will take place on Friday, January 11, 2008 from 9:30-11:00am at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 2944 Erie Ave. Cost is $5.00. Pre-registration is required. Call Barb Evans. The Early Stage Strategy Group (ESSG) is an 8-week program designed for persons in the early stages of Alzheimers disease or a related dementia and their primary family caregiver. The weekly sessions provide education about the disease process as well as the opportunity for participants to share their experiences and concerns with others facing similar challenges. a part of the Giving Tree program for 2007. The 8th grade Girl Scout troops
358 and 8704 spearheaded the efforts this year and with the help of parent
volunteers, parishioners and other St. I Scout troops we were able to
bring Christmas gifts to over 1248 individuals. Thanks again for the effort
and heart put into this very worthy cause. PULL FOR THE RONALD McDONALD HOUSE: Ronald McDonald House provides a supportive "home away from home" for families and their children who are receiving treatment at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, regardless of their ability to pay. The little tab you pull to open your soda, soup or any other aluminum can make a significant impact on the Ronald McDonald House. They recycle the tabs to generate funds to offset House expenses. Families are asked to send in tabs to school or bring to the Parish Office, just like boxtops, Campbells UPC codes and Tyson labels. Thanks for your help. YES - WE COLLECT THESE: The school participates in several programs such as: Box Tops for Education, Campbell Labels for Education and Tyson Project A+. Simply clip the Box Top coupons from your favorite brands like General Mills, Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, Ziploc, Kleenex and more. Each coupon is worth 10 cents. Clip the UPC code from Campbell products and redemption labels from Tyson products. You may send these items to the school or Parish. With everyone's help, we can make thousands of dollars for our school. LaSalle High School Drama presents FAME January 10th- 13th. No reserved seating. General floor seating - $10 and bleachers - $5. Mike Davis will be bringing his Elvis and Friends Tribute Show and Dinner to the Meadows on Sunday, January 27, 2008. The Meadows is located at 59 E Main St. in Addyston. Doors open at 5pm, Dinner is at 5:30pm and the show starts at 6:45pm. Tickets are $25 per person which includes the show and dinner. Limited seating available, Call. Proceeds benefit the Taylor HS Raise the Curtain Fund. St. Lawrence is scheduling a Cornhole Tournament to help offset funds in order to defray costs of the 5th graders going to Camp Campbell Gard.
