Highlights of Upcoming 2004 Season

USA Track & Field Logo - Homeo       New Uniforms for Grades 5 thru 8 will feature nylon singlets and shorts, as well as a full  warm up suit.

o       Short Season:  Seven (7) track meets will be held over the course of a nine (9) week season (mid-March to mid-May).

o       Low Maintenance:  Five (5) of the seven (7) track meets are held at either LaSalle, Colerain or Northwest Sr. High Schools and generally last two (2) hours.

o       Convenient Practices:  Scheduled on Monday and Wednesday (Grades 5 thru 8) or Tuesday and Thursday (Grades 1 thru 4).  And all practices are held at LaSalle High School for approximately 90 minutes.

o       Conditioning for Football and Baseball:  Field and sprint events provide football and baseball players with the timing, coordination, strength and general conditioning they need to stay in shape.  Conflicts with baseball games are possible, but always tolerated.

o       Runner Coaches:  The St. Ignatius Coaching Staff loves to run, too.  Many of them train and compete in national distance running events and other multi-sport races.  They also enjoy running with the team during practice and sharing their enthusiasm about running.

Benefits of Running

          ·        Running is one of the healthiest, if not the healthiest, exercise.

          ·        Running improves your cardiovascular system helping you
                resist heart and artery disease.

          ·        Running helps ward off major lifestyle diseases, including high
                blood pressure and diabetes.

          ·        In addition to these health benefits, you'll also feel better.  And
remarkably, you'll find that  you have more energy everyday--not
                less.

          ·        That's the beauty of running.  It fends off disease, increases
energy levels, improves  memory and concentration, and is
                a lot of fun!
