"True education aims at the formation of the human person with respect to his ultimate goal, and simultaneously with respect to the good of those societies of which, as a man/woman is a member, and in whose responsibilities, as an adult will share."
Declaration on Christian Education
The Document of Vatican II
The Educational mission of St. Ignatius School embraces the three-fold purpose taken from To Teach as Jesus Did. This incorporates the teaching of the message, the building of community, and providing opportunities for active Christian service of God, Church and neighbor. We believe that St. Ignatius School affords the fullest and best opportunity to realize this three-fold purpose of Christian education by setting forth goals, practices and theories that support a deep awareness of the importance of Christian values, and principles of American Democracy.
St. Ignatius strives to educate the whole person by promoting the spiritual, moral, physical and intellectual development of each student in a value-centered environment. In a cooperative effort with parents, we challenge the individual abilities of each student in such a manner a to enhance self-worth and to attain academic excellence. The specific objectives of the school follow the curriculum recommended by the states and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati for elementary schools. They are to enable the students:
-
To become aware of his/her relationship, belief and responsibility to God and to his/her fellow man both in our Parish family and community.
-
To acquire knowledge by providing experiences necessary to gain mastery of the subject matter essential to elementary school.
-
To provide opportunities for acquiring written and oral communication skills.
-
To promote good work habits and study skills.
-
To create an awareness of one's personal and social responsibility.
-
To instill a sense of personal responsibility and self-discipline.
