A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR

I can't believe that I am writing the December newsletter already…considering that you will be receiving it on November 18th! I feel like I just got done doing the November Newsletter. I hope each of you read the Newsletter each month, because it always has lots of important information in it. As you can see (and know) December is very, very busy.

On December 2nd at 9:40 a.m., we will have our ADVENT PRAYER SERVICE in Church. Students will have class on December 2nd and then they will go over to church with their class at 9:40 and sit together as a class. Each family will receive an Advent Wreath. Please place this Advent Wreath on your table and use it each day. We ask that after the Prayer Service, the parents come to the front of Church to pick up your child.

Do you know what the Advent Wreath means? The evergreens symbolize life, and our undying hope because of Christ's coming into our lives. The circle suggests the wonder of God-without beginning or end-whose unending love embraces us. The candles stand for the light of Christ, which comes to light up our lives. Three candles are purple, symbolizing our longing for Christ's coming. One is pink suggesting our joyful faith that Christ is coming soon.

Advent is a time to prepare your spirit and hearts for Jesus. If someone asked you to "spread the news", how would you do it??? Telephone? Email? TV? Newspaper? Texting? Just remember Jesus did not have any of these ways to share his message. Maybe when you are out walking or at church or school, you could say hello to someone; or you might say an extra prayer; or think of something nice to do for someone during Advent.

May you and your family have a blessed Advent season as we prepare for Jesus' birth.
Mary Ann Bosse

BREAKFAST OR LUNCH WITH SANTA/HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS CELEBRATION - Don't forget to send in your reservations for the Breakfast or Lunch with Santa/Happy Birthday Jesus Celebration on November 24th. This is a great way to show the children that at Christmas we also celebrate Jesus' birthday.

FIRST RECONCILIATION - Our Second Grade students will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Saturday, December 1st at 11:00. This is a very exciting time in their life. Please pray for them as they continue to prepare for their First Holy Communion on Saturday, April 26th.

ST. NICHOLAS VISIT - St. Nick will come and visit PSR on Sunday, December 9th. Please make sure that if your child has a food allergy, to let the teacher know, so that they are not given the item.

NATIVITY RAFFLE - Attached to this newsletter is a sheet of raffle tickets for the Child's Nativity. Chances are .25 cents each with a total of $3.00 worth on each sheet. Don't forget to send in your raffle tickets by Sunday, December 16th at 9:00 a.m. We will have the Nativity sitting outside the PSR office, so please stop by and see it. There will be sheets sitting near the Nativity for you to fill out and give to your child's teacher or if you need additional sheets, please have your child stop by the PSR office or ask his/her teacher as they will have extra sheets.

CONFESSIONS - Each PSR student is given the opportunity to go to confessions during November and December. There will be another opportunity in the Spring. Please check the Church bulletin for other times that will be available for you and your family to go before Christmas.

SNOW PROCEDURES - Yes, it is that time of year when we must start thinking about Winter and Snow. I would like to remind everyone of our policy for snow days. You will be notified by your oldest child's teacher, so please make sure that we have your correct telephone number or maybe even a cell phone number that we will be able to reach you. Also, please make sure that we have your correct street address and email address.

MARKET DAY VOLUNTEERS - Market Day is looking for additional volunteers, both adults and students (Grades 7 and 8). Anyone that is interested in helping, please stop by and see Christy Weber in Room 207 or call the Parish Office at 661-6565 and leave your name and telephone number for Christ Weber to call you.

BINGO WORKERS ARE NEEDED - Can you spare one Sunday evening every nine weeks to work at St. Ignatius Bingo? It is smoke-free and fun to work! You also get to meet other parishioners. The revenue from the Bingo helps with the general fund, and thus keeps our PSR fees down. So, please call Barb Campbell at the Parish Office (661-6565) and let her know that you would like to help.

THANK YOU
. . . to everyone who sent in "gently used" or "new" toys that will be given to a child at St. Leo's or McCreary County, Kentucky.

. . . to all the Room Parent volunteers…we could not do it without you.

. . . to the parents that make sure their children are in class each week and are on time and well prepared.

. . . to the students who get up early and come to class prepared on Sunday morning to come and learn about their faith.

. . . to the teachers and staff who are here each week to share their faith with the students.

. . . to Father Pete St. George, Father Don McCarthy, Father John Wall and Sister Lucy Zientek for sharing their knowledge and guidance with the PSR program.

May you and your Family have a
Very Merry Christmas and a
Blessed and Happy New Year!
