Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) - Mens

Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) has been offering men of the Parish an opportunity to break from the pressures of daily life and revitalize their relationship with God for 35 years.

Christ Renews His Parish - AND YOU!

Frequently Asked Questions

The Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) Program has a long history at St. Ignatius. As of this year, thirty five groups have men have attended the one and one half day retreat. Like many retreats the "weekend" offers a brief respite from the pressures and hectic pace of life. However, this retreat is given by other men like you, men who understand the conflicts and pressures that make a rich life of faith difficult. CRHP is the perfect opportunity to find ways to allow Christ's presence in you to give you strength and peace, to bind your family together in God's love and to draw on the strength and support of our Parish.

Who can attend?

The retreat is open to men whether Catholic or not over the age of 18. There is also a CRHP Program for women.

What happens on the weekend?
You will have the opportunity to hear personal stories of God's hand in the lives of fellow Parishioners. Following each of these 'witnesses', small groups discuss their own similar experiences. Short passages of Scripture related to the themes of the stories are discussed and like all retreats there is time for personal reflection and prayer. The weekend concludes with a Mass held for the participants.

However, CRHP is not only about Spirituality but fellowship as well. In addition to the time for thinking about and discussing developing a closer relationship with Jesus, we also spend time socializing and having fun.

Who leads the weekend?
We consider the CRHP weekend a "gift" that is passed forward by those who received it previously. The weekend is led by other men just like you.

How long is the weekend?
We start at 8:30 on Saturday morning and finish up around 3:30 PM on Sunday.

When is the "weekend" held?
Once a year in late February.

Where is the retreat held?
The weekend is held in several rooms of St. Ignatius School.

What are the accommodations?
Normally, sleeping accommodations are provided in the School and we encourage attendees to spend Saturday night unless medical conditions or similar issues prevent doing so.

What about food?
CRHP weekends are known for the abundance and quality of food. Meals as well as snacks and drinks are provided.

What do I need to bring?
A sleeping bag or sheets and blanket, your favorite pillow, toiletries and the desire to let Jesus bring His Peace into your life.

What should I wear?
The CRHP weekend is "come as you are". Any comfortable clothes (jeans, etc.) are fine. Saturday evening usually includes the opportunity for activities such as cards, corn hole, etc.

What is the cost?
One and one half days of your time. Meals and everything else you need are provided by the parish.

The giving team (Team 35) will be inviting the men of the Parish to join them in October. If you are have any other questions or would like to "reserve" a spot for the February 19-20, 2010 weekend, please give Rick Thomas or Mike Schmidt a call.

Christ Renews His Parish is a spiritual renewal process which calls together members of Saint Ignatius Church in order to experience personal conversion and Christian community in the environment of our own parish family. We enjoy each other's fellowship, explore the Gospel and how it impacts our lives, and pray together.

Those who participate in a Christ Renews weekend have the opportunity to continue to meet and grow as a spiritual community after the retreat and eventually to share what they have experienced with others during a follow-up weekend retreat.

Meets as team decides.

What is FATHERS?
FATHERS is a group of men at St. Ignatius Parish committed to deepening their relationships with the Lord, their wives, and their children.

When and where is FATHERS?
Weekly meetings are on Friday mornings from 6AM to 7AM in the St. Ignatius Parish Center from October through April.

Who are FATHERS members?
Engaged and married men. New fathers. Fathers of elementary and middle school children. Fathers of high school, college aged and adult children. Grandfathers.

Why is FATHERS important to my family and me?
Fatherhood is one of the greatest blessings bestowed upon men. The dynamics of being a father require us to meet many challenges in developing a family life that glorifies God. The mutual encouragement, guidance and faith of other St. Ignatius FATHERS experienced at each weekly meeting help you to face these challenges with an open mind and heart. By committing to developing deeper relationships with God, our wives and our children, each FATHERS member helps foster positive growth in our families, our parish and the world.

I struggle with being a strong Catholic father and husband. Is FATHERS right for me?

Absolutely. We all face struggles with our fatherhood, our marriage and our faith. With FATHERS members all walking at different points on the path of fatherhood, each member becomes an integral part of the group, supporting each other while holding each other accountable to a positive commitment of growth.

Whether you are an experienced father or you are just beginning your family, St Ignatius FATHERS welcomes you and values what you have to share.

How does a typical FATHERS meeting go?

  •     Social greeting
  •     FATHERS Oath
  •     Holy Scripture Reading
  •     Prayer and Song
  •     Prayer Intentions
  •     Announcements & Tips
  •     Weekly Topic Discussion
  •     Small and large group discussion

Join us on Fridays from 6AM to 7AM in the St. Ignatius Parish Center from October through April.

You and your family will be glad you did.
